A multinational with an automotive plant in Belgium decided to automate the lubrication of their press line to enhance machine efficiency and longevity. A press line is an automated assembly line that stamps and shapes metal sheets into car parts such as doors and hoods. Proper maintenance and lubrication of these presses are crucial for smooth operation and long equipment life.
MEMOLUB® HPS
Boosting efficiency in automotive press lines
CONTEXT
PROBLEM
The press line required manual lubrication during downtime for safety reasons, leading to premature component wear due to insufficient lubrication.
SOLUTION
A Memolub HPS automatic electro-mechanical lubrication system was installed, featuring distribution blocks with 6 or 8 outlets depending on the size of the press. Castrol Optimol LT2 grease cartridges with a one-year discharge period were used to ensure reliable and even lubrication.
RESULTS
The automation of the lubrication system significantly improved the factory’s efficiency. Even distribution of lubricant across components reduced premature wear and extended machine life. Eliminating the need for manual lubrication enhanced safety and lowered maintenance costs. This allowed the factory to operate more efficiently with fewer interruptions.
