In 2001, a quarry site commissioned a new material handling installation featuring two large stackers. Each machine included numerous moving components such as conveyor drum bearings, rollers, and pivot shafts. Altogether, each stacker required lubrication at 84 different points. Given the scale and mechanical complexity, establishing a reliable and efficient lubrication system from the start was essential for long-term performance and maintenance efficiency.

MEMOLUB HPS
Affordable automatic lubrication for 84 critical stacker bearings.
Context
Problem
While a centralized dual-line lubrication system was initially considered, budget limitations quickly ruled it out. The cost per lubrication point exceeded €250, making it financially unviable for the project. Manual lubrication was also deemed impractical due to the number of points, their locations, and the frequent servicing required. Relying on manual greasing would have made maintenance labor-intensive, inefficient, and difficult to standardize across machines.
Solution
To meet both technical and budgetary needs, the site adopted MEMOLUB HPS automatic lubricators. Each stacker was equipped with 18 systems in total—16 GIGA and 2 MEGA units—configured in a mix of single-point and progressive distributor setups depending on the application. The lubricators were filled with LT 2 lubricant and programmed for reliable, consistent delivery to all required points without technician intervention.
Results
The MEMOLUB solution enabled a fully automated lubrication process at a significantly reduced cost. The total installation cost came in under €100 per lubrication point—more than 60% lower than the dual-line centralized alternative. The system ensured regular and accurate greasing of all components, eliminated the need for manual lubrication, and allowed the new equipment to operate with increased reliability and lower maintenance demands.
