A prominent player in the metallurgical industry, specialising in wire drawing and coating, encountered a critical operational challenge. This company, renowned for its high-quality cable sector products, utilises advanced machinery for driving and guiding components. Key to their operations are the rotational drive gears and circular guides, which function at high speeds and require precise lubrication to maintain performance and durability. The existing manual lubrication process was proving inadequate, jeopardising the efficiency and reliability of their machinery.


The high-speed operations of the company’s machinery posed significant challenges. The manual lubrication method was not feasible during machine operation, resulting in periods without proper lubrication. Additionally, the machinery’s design made it difficult to access certain parts for lubrication. This led to the development of pitting on the gear wheels, a serious issue that compromised the machinery’s functionality and lifespan. The inability to lubricate the gears while the machinery was in motion and the difficulty in accessing lubrication points exacerbated wear and tear, presenting a substantial operational risk.


To tackle these challenges, we proposed a tailored lubrication solution. We introduced the Memolub HPS system, a high-performance lubrication system capable of operating under high-speed conditions. This system featured an 8-output distributor, ensuring even and effective lubrication across all critical components. Castrol's Optigear 150 oil was selected for its superior ability to reduce friction and wear, enhancing the lubrication process. This combination was designed to provide continuous and reliable lubrication, even during machine operation, addressing both the accessibility and operational lubrication issues.


The implementation of our solution delivered remarkable results. The Memolub HPS system ensured that the gear wheels received consistent and adequate lubrication, stabilizing the pitting on the wheels and preventing further damage. This continuous lubrication extended the equipment’s lifespan and improved overall machinery performance. The enhanced lubrication process reduced downtime and maintenance costs, leading to better operational efficiency. As a result, the company maintained their high standards of precision and reliability in their cable sector production processes, securing their reputation in the metallurgical industry.
