A major European packaging manufacturer specialising in cardboard and corrugated solutions was experiencing ongoing mechanical wear issues on one of its high-speed palletising lines. The equipment in question, a Martin palletizer, featured a rack and slide system that handled rapid, repetitive movements critical to precise product stacking. Operating in a clean production environment, the system also required a food-grade lubrication solution to meet internal hygiene standards.

Consistent greasing cuts wear in high-speed packaging line.
Context
Problem
The palletizer’s rack and guide system suffered from poor and inconsistent lubrication. Over time, this led to accelerated wear on the Ertalon guide blocks, increasing mechanical play and reducing the accuracy of machine movements. As the wear progressed, the palletizer became less stable and more prone to misalignment, directly affecting line performance and requiring frequent maintenance interventions. The situation risked unplanned downtime, reduced output, and costly part replacements.
Solution
To restore machine stability and extend component lifespan, the site installed a MEMOLUB EPS Series automatic lubrication system. Designed for precision applications, MEMOLUB EPS delivered consistent grease dosing to the rack and slide mechanism. The system was filled with Castrol's OPTILEB GR 823 0, a high-performance, H1-certified food-grade grease formulated for low-viscosity, high-adherence lubrication. This setup ensured smooth, continuous lubrication without the need for manual access or routine intervention.
Results
The implementation of MEMOLUB EPS led to a notable reduction in wear on the Ertalon guide blocks, significantly improving the long-term stability and accuracy of the palletizer. Manual lubrication was eliminated, maintenance intervals were extended, and the system operated more reliably under continuous load. By switching to automated lubrication with a food-grade product, the plant not only enhanced operational efficiency but also maintained hygiene compliance without compromising machine performance.
